This site is about pubs and breweries in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

Abingdon is reputably the oldest continuously inhabited town in England. Brewing history can be traced back to 955ad when St. Ethelwold was the Abbot of Abingdon monastry. In more recent times we were home to the Morland Brewery, which has since been taken over by Greene King, closed down and turned into flats. After a lull of 10 years or so, the Loose Cannon Brewery was formed bringing back commercial brewing to the town.

I am a member of several organization that have an interest in beer including:

• The Oxford branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale)

which organizes the Oxford Beer Festival, chooses local entries for The Good Beer Guide, and also publishes a bi-monthly newsletter The Oxford Drinker which you can find in most good pubs that serve real ale.

• The Oxford Brewers Group
• the Craft Brewing Association
• Mr Hemmings Traditional Abingdon Morris Dancers which dances regularly at Abingdon pubs on monday nights during the summer months.
• Abingdon Traditional Morris Dancers
